Google Doodles !!

Actually you guys would have noticed it a lot of times before, the Google Doodle that Google puts up on their home page on Holidays and other important events. Now sample these two, what they made earlier for - "The FIFA WorldCup' 06" and "American Independence Day' 03". (I'm breaking rules here.. they have mentioned not to use them anywhere else :)) You'll fall in love the moment you watch it!! Creativity at its best :)

Now the interesting thing is, Google has dis-associated itself ever from creating a Doodle when the Holiday has a religious relevance. They have verbally accepted it before. Infact you can never even see one for Christmas or Easter. But just now i saw them doing one, but still without breaking the rule!! See where it goes and tell me what does it strike you when you see it? What all can you infer and interpret?

  • Yeah guys, its Diwali special only :) I have mentioned some random things i noted. Add your things to the list if you find more.

    1. The logo is meant for Diwali. The lights are the proof.
    2. The alternating text for the image read "India_Holiday", if in case an alien outside India couldn't figure out the relevance.
    3. The logo in itself has been sketched in tri-color.
    4. The lights on the logo are around the letter 'O' of Orkut, which is the only common letter for Orkut and Google.
    5. Of any other services of Google, Orkut is the one highly used by Indians (Now all Information Technologists will pounce on me, that they used Google search more for their code search :). But Indians are far better in logic. I believe Google search would be used more aggresively outside India). India ranked 2nd in Orkut usage until sometime in the past, while United States pushed India to 3rd position currently. Brazil ranks first.
    6. But why on Diwali? Check this. For the Diwali closing weekend (October 23rd), the word 'Diwali' is the 6th popular search string on Google.
    7. If at all something props up against Google for affecting religious sentiments, Orkut is one of the services which has no business relevance and hence no huge monetory benefits for Google too :)
    8. Even at the worst case if something has gone wrong and has given bad publicity to Google via Orkut, remember Orkut is their only service which runs on Microsoft.NET !!
